Zen.
— An intuitive way to learn and track Healthy Habits.
This post is a part of GOOGLE UX DESIGN PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE PROGRAM created by GOOGLE. It is a cumilation of Seven courses Covering all aspects of USER EXPERIENCE DESIGN.
We’ve all been at that stage where we want to learn something new but never end up doing it. We either dont want to spend more time on the screen or just dont have the time to sit in one place and dedicate time to learning something new like a healthy habit.
What if i tell you of a new way where you can learn and track a new healthy habit, (whether be it with respect to physical health or mental health) by not having to spend more time infront of a screen and when you’re on the go?
Presenting “Zen.”!
Zen helps you learn and track healthy habits with respect to Physical & Mental Health by giving back to the community at the same time in the form of donations or community service.
This Project was one of the Design Prompts Assigned to me by GOOGLE during my GOOGLE UX DESIGN PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE. The Design Prompt was “ Design a User Experience to help tutor adults in healthy habits”.
The whole User Experience consisted of a Dedicated Mobile App & a Responsive Website which could adapt the elements on the website with respect to the screen size of the user. [Mobile, Tablet or Desktop.]
The Dedicate Mobile App housed features like
- Progress Tracker
- Audiologs / Podcasts Support
The Responsive Website had a more colorful approach with bigger and wider elements topped off with high quality images which inturn enhanced the User Experience of the website.
UX Research
Since this was a solo project, i had to take up all the responsibilites with respect to UX Design.
I initially started off with Foundational UX Research, then moved on to Creating Personas, identifying Problem Statements, creating Storyboards, Wireframing, Prototyping, then moved on to Design Research and finally Went on to create a High Fidelity, fully functioning Prototypes.
The goal was to create an User Experience which was User Centric & Easy to use.
Foundational UX Research
During the initial Research, i had to Empathize with the Participants in my study and my potential users to learn their Needs and Motivations on how they expected the product to be.
Problem Statements
By summarizing my findings during the Foundational UX Research phase, i was able to identity the Problem Statement.
Storyboards
Storyboards tell the story of Problem Statement or a potential user using your Product. In this case, The potential users in my study wanted an APP from which they could learn and track new healthy habits while on the go by spending little to no screentime.
UX Design
Based on my findings from Foundational UX Research, i started to Brainstorm some ideas and picked a few features the app needed.
Wireframing
I started the process with Paper Wireframes which was a very cost effective method and helped me in rapidly iterating my ideas.
Once i felt satisfied with a few designs, i decided to convert them to Digital Wireframes. To make my designs more User Friendly, i made sure i followed all of the Gestalt Principles.
High Fidelity Designs
My High Fidelty Designs were tested by numerous participants to make sure that it avoids all forms of Deceptive Patterns.
My designs were created in a way which made sure all the Foundational elements of Visual designs namely, Typography, Color and Iconograpy were Present.
Design Research
Design Research was conducted with a well laid out Research Plan and Script. Based on the findings from Design Research, changes were made to my Designs. Unmoderated Usability Studies were conducted many times over to make sure my designs were Inclusive, Equitable and Easy to use while considering a11Y.
The Final Design
The final Design of the App was tested with different groups of participants. Most of my participants found it easy and simple to use.
One of the hardest things to incorporate into my designs was incorporating the Audiologs/ Podcasts Feature.
